Despite being quite sick for the entirety of Kagyu Monlam last year, His Holiness continued on nonetheless, shown here during a public Chenrezig initiation for a crowd of hundreds at Karma Temple. Regardless of his personal condition, and the hours of puja and public blessing that will follow, he manages a smile that cuts through the space and reminds me of just how compassionate and amazing he really is.
