The winter retreat has come to a close here in Dhagpo Kagyu Ling.

A Tara Morning

A month of intense study on Abhidharma, taught by the wonderful and patient Acharya Kalsang Phuntso, translated into French by our very own Dragpa, who is ever smiling and joyful despite the density and difficulty of the teachings. As was advised and requested by His Holiness the Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje and Lama Jigmé Rinpoché, Dhagpo has been undertaking another regular and rigorous activity, the accumulation of 100,000 prayers to Tara; creating an opportunity for the center to have a regular, daily Tara practice each and every morning, which was diligently attended by many.

I had the opportunity to attend one of these morning sessions, and to take some photographs - it was a wonderful experience as I have personally not been able to attend the pujas and to see everyone so deep in practice together was inspiring to say the least. And the final closing ceremony of the retreat, full of smiles and laughter, was such a treat - so much hard work and dedication, and seeing Kalsang Phuntso evolve and grow with us, coming to understand one another, bridging the cultural gap by joining together in the study of the Dharma.

Here in Dhagpo we now jump into full swing prep time - getting ready for our Losar celebrations, and in preparation for the commencement of the year long celebration of our 40 year anniversary!
