Lama Ole has been coming here for years, it is his retreat, his sanctuary, and the one time a year where he truly gets to rest and disconnect.
I was asked to come along to document this Australian tour and the island posed a great opportunity for some filming time - when else would I get a chance to have Ole relaxed, rested and with a gorgeous ocean backdrop such as this. I was lucky to be invited over for the afternoon one of the days, and we spent some serious quality time filming, talking Dharma and even taking a wonderful walk on the beach to my heart’s content. Ole was magnificent. He was kind, funny, patient and extremely accommodating - prying me with his gentle and sassy humor all the time wearing his signature grin and glowing blue eyes. He gave me such amazing material, but most of all his precious and guarded private time that I will forever be grateful to him for. Four days lost in the Rottnest Blue; chasing the ridiculously cute but illusory Quokka, recharging my own weary soul, and a once in a lifetime walk on the beach with the one and only Lama Ole.
