Under the cool light of the moon, a shining pearl gleams in the night, glimmering like a precious jewel gently buried in cascading shadows and graceful flowing clouds.

Benalmadena - Dharma Under Moonlight

Its white walls like a mirror to the soul, this landmark of beauty has always shown me the direct access to my soul, as if gazing upon it somehow illuminates my innermost dreams and wishes.

Every time I see it it presents something different, somehow changing with each passing moment, forever transitioning and freely moving in space. It is simply incredible - such grandiose beauty I cannot explain it in words, it touches me deeply just to be near it, gazing up at its walls and spires reaching into the heavens.

Inside the stupa is something miraculous in and of itself - for the ever magnanimous Chogyal Rinpoche is teaching inside, to a boisterous and jovial crowd of excited students and visitors listening intently as he expounds the dharma in his own personal way. Always so full of wit and humour, beaming, as he somehow explains even the most complicated of teachings with grace and humility. His talk lasting well into the night, as question after question continue, the crowd insatiable in their desire - Rinpoche sitting calmly without a care in the world, rejoicing in the involvement of everyone. At nearly midnight we finally make it outside, and the stupa is still standing tall, glowing in the night sky, a symbol of beauty unlike any other. The brilliant moon is waxing huge in the dark night sky, the cool wind gracing my cheeks bringing a rosy frosty feeling - no matter the cold the look of happiness couldn’t be removed from my face - or my heart. Under this brilliant moon, in the shadow of glowing white - my heart is raw and ever wide open and I wouldn’t exchange this for anything in the world.
