One fleeting moment passes to the next so quickly we barely have time to even come to terms with what is in front of us before it is gone, moved on, fading into distant foggy memory as quickly as it came into focus.
As a documentarian/photographer I am constantly in search of moments with which I can attempt to communicate my feelings - be it grief or joy, sadness or cherished memory, light or dark - the search is all but the same. I have found that in a photograph lies so many details, so much emotion and tenderness, so many nuances and beautiful caveats of shadow and texture it can be hard to catch them as they fly by in real time. Or perhaps you were fiddling with a dial and the moment simply escaped, lost forever. Fear not, as another opportunity will always come again when you’re willing to wait for it. Some moments you just know in your bones that this was the one, holding steadfast and still until your arms start to shake with fatigue, palms sweaty and breath held tightly - but in the very last second that moment just appears in front of you, and all the waiting in the world was worth it for that one perfect beautiful instance when the outer world and your heart connect as one. When every word you’ve ever uttered is rendered mute and obsolete by the transmittance of your soul through the lens - and poof it is gone - and the cycle begins once again.
