To the great yogi Milarepa: never has there been another to whom my heart connects more deeply.

Dhagpo - The Towers Of Milarepa

Through your great struggle and infinitely devoted heart you accomplished more in one lifetime than most could ever hope to accomplish in eons of attempts.

You accepted your past, checkered as it may have been, and through impossibly dedicated practice you attained awakening showing that it is possible to reach for the sky even when you’ve come from dark and lowly places. Your empowerment today filled me with melodious energy, like a honeyed song being sung aloud, drifting out into the wide open spaces surrounding me.

I too will keep my hand to my ear, open to the world, as the bitter sweet and beautiful song of this life is too precious to miss. I too will continue on building tower after tower and ripping them down - relishing in the opportunity to practice patience, compassion, courage and devotion. I too will sing the song of songs that is in my heart - loud enough for all to hear - even if no-one is listening. I too will continue to take great chances in this life - even if no one is watching. From whence we came is but a fading memory, we must be willing to risk it all, to tear down those towers once more and take the great leap - it is only then that we can truly fly.
