The tenderness and love that emits from Karmapa’s being when they are together, the way he holds him, kisses his head, touches his little hands, makes funny faces at him - it’s all so joyful and powerful at the same time I feel my heart could burst.
Little Thugsey is a gem, profoundly present and aware, his eyes scanning everything, taking it all in. He is always so calm and serene it’s breathtaking. He’s just like his father. Always beaming, always joyful, always completely aware and yet without a moment’s rush or hesitation to take as long as he needs for anything and anyone. They arrived to EC two nights ago, after 2am in the morning, in the rain. Karmapa was wide eyed, all smiles. Thugsey sleeping away with this incredible soft happy look on his face. They were greeted by Lama Ole, so many kataks and hugs, hundreds of people screaming and crying with joy at seeing them. Even with all this, they both remained profoundly undisturbed. As they took the stage yesterday for Thugsey’s official welcoming ceremony they were undeniably the most relaxed in a tent of 7000 plus overly excited and rightfully emotional onlookers. Mandala offerings and speeches, cheers of joy and applause from the crowd. Karmapa was making funny faces with Thugsey the whole time, like they were just at home by themselves basking in their love for one another. Pure and limitless joy from them both. What a family, the Buddha and his boy. Like Father Like Son.
