Sheyrab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s glowing presence is overwhelmingly everywhere here, full of his signature exuberant vitality and admirable energy moving freely through the air like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night. It is so obviously him, with the myriad of Dharma wheels everywhere, a perfect metaphor for the ultimate teacher and guide, his ever turning of the wheel of Dharmic activity is the source of inspiration and wonder to us all.
It can be felt so strongly, undoubtedly, boldly, even when he himself is not present. This great Monastery is his gift to the world, his supreme wish, his way of helping the Dharma flourish in the world, for years and generations to come as his students and devotees finally have a place to call home for his tremendous gifts to both the lineage and the world as a whole. I can see him in the face of every monk and Lama here, his direct effect on them is instantly recognizable. They are aglow, as is he, like the softly setting sun caressing the mountains here as the day softly says goodbye, so it is seen on every face here. His western students light up like Christmas trees when he is around. The man is pure Dharma. A never ending, unceasing foray of activity and blessings. A continuous force to be reckoned with, a trembling explosion of compassion amidst the purest sweetness found on this earth. A great and powerful man, a great and powerful mind, yet with a presence so timid and kind, gentle and unassuming. His smile lights the room, lights the night sky, lights our hearts, lights our way with such dignified and carefree bliss and joy. Whenever I see him, whenever he is around, I am instantly warmed to my most inner of inners, feeling him arrive well before I can see him with my eyes. To me, and to many others, he is quite simply put, one of the greatest gifts in this world - and his new home is a direct mirror of the man himself in all his glory. In honor of our great teacher, in honor of his never-ending spirit and energy he has always given away so freely to all and everyone, we will continue to turn the great wheel of Dharma at all times. The ever turning wheel seems to be turning ever stronger here, spreading the Dharma in all directions, and to all times. Centered here, a brilliant light is being emitted, coming right from this very spot, the whole world is aglow.
