Bright lights, big city - our home for just a few days and yet it feels like I am leaving a piece of myself here.

Hong Kong - Farewell Bright Lights

Under your starry glow and techno skyline I have found a piece of myself amongst you.

You have welcomed me into your homes, shared your time and your stories, your food and your warm hearted laughter with me. You have been most gracious with us both in a way that will not be forgotten. Even in a place where everything moves at light speed, flash pan bright and go go quick - while most are painfully unaware of what is happening around them, you all have made me feel taken care of, thought of, and like one of the family from the moment we arrived. I am so happy to know that there are plans for me to come back already in the works, I will do what I can to make it back as fast as humanly possible, for we have much to do together you and I. Farewell bright lights, farewell big city, I have truly enjoyed every minute I have spent with you. Farewell all who have spared no expense to make me feel like one of you, our wonderfully informal sit down family style dinners have quickly become my favorite moments on this trip so far. Sharing a table with you has been an honor and a privilege. Farewell to all the new friends, and all of whom I am lucky enough to see again. Setting out to the airport, the bay covered in fog and mist, skyscrapers lining the horizon and the sleepy shipping cranes jetting out into the air, leaving an imprint on me like that of a fairy tale. There is still much I didn’t see, so much I want to explore, but that’s why they invented a next time. So see you next time Hong Kong, perhaps sooner than you think, and thank you again for everything.
