Karmapa said today that we are a lineage of compassion.

Karma Guen - A Lineage Of Compassion

In scary times when disasters are everywhere, violence is on the rise and fear is the dominant force around the world we need more than ever to be compassionate.

We need to react to violence with compassion, and not let our emotions get the better of ourselves creating even more harm. We need to realize that our compassion must go out not just for the victims and those we feel empathy for, but for the culprits and violence doers as well. They are doing it out of confusion and their own pain, and they need our help and love and compassion. Can we really think of the unbelievable pain they must feel, to do this immeasurable negativity to another, this is true suffering. We are practitioners of the middle way, we shouldn’t be extreme or aggressive, instead we must find a way to be examples of love, forgiveness and compassion. So let us be true to our best natures, let us rise to the challenge and come together instead of drifting apart. Let us honor our lineage, and our own basic goodness. We are a great lineage of compassion, we must act accordingly.
