I have been flipped inside out. I have been completely flattened.

Karma Guen - Khorlo & Yogini

In one day Nedo Rinpoche gave the empowerments of Khorlo Demchok AND Dorje Palmo, the combination a powerful blow to my very being. Usually these types of initiation take two days each, but we had them both - in one enormous, insanely intense day. It was hot, crowded, and yet delicately calm as Rinpoche passed on the teachings and instructions he himself received directly from the 16th Karmapa. He was also really funny, radiantly charming in his usual way, despite the intensity of what he was passing on. 600 people standing on one leg, a red string across the forehead, all trying our best to understand the complexities of what was going on - and he’s laughing himself silly. It was a unique moment, branching the extremes of high Dharma and albeit some unique physical impressions. He made it all make sense somehow. Rinpoche really is one of a kind. The more I see him, the more I am overwhelmed with his simplicity, his endless energy, and his commitment to the lineage and the teachings of the Buddha. He shook me, all of us, completely out of our comfort zones, leaving us all crying in happiness, and totally stirred up and shaken from the experience. I am still spinning from the experience, trying my best to stay upright. Khorlo and Yogini, the powerful union of wisdom and skillful means - I suppose it’s a great sign - receiving two such powerful initiations in one day ought to stir things up a bit.
