I first met Rinpoche in 1999, on my first trip to Nepal and I was instantly amazed at his joyful demeanor, and the warmth in his eyes. I remember clearly after just a few minutes he offered me, a 16 years old wild and wayward teenager, to stay at his place anytime I wanted. He was so genuine and without a shred of hesitation in his kindness to me. Needless to say I was touched, and we have remained close for years.
Today however was an extra special meeting; his dog Tashi and a neighbor’s dog just had a littler of five puppies and they are the cutest things I have ever seen! Only three weeks old and just opening their little eyes. Watching Rinpoche play with the smallest one, I was utterly hypnotized by the cuteness and couldn’t help myself. Camera out, we just had fun and laughed ourselves silly. It was a wonderfully simple moment. My work usually entails large events, crowds and official ceremonies, but I just had to share these photos too. I have such few precious moments while in Kathmandu between work; sharing a tea with a dear old friend, seeing his amazing statue collection, and of course, playing with tiny puppies to my heart’s content surely also makes the cut.
