I couldn’t ask for a better gift, or a more wonderfully random opportunity to see everyone that I hold most dear in this world. Karmapa gave Amitiyus - long life. He spoke about how important it is for our lives to be beneficial, how we must fill them with compassion for others, living with the fullest heart possible. A full life is a long life. Quality trumps quantity. Our real purpose in this life is simply to try and understand the preciousness of human existence. He said if you create a family around you, and then let that family grow to all beings, you will always be surrounded by those you love. Love makes life infinite. A perfect teaching, a fitting testament to how I’m feeling now in my life, as my own family will soon to start to grow. My life’s purpose will grow, and only time will tell if I have been able to fill it with what is really important. I hope I have. Dharma, family, loving with an open heart. Doing everything I can, with all that I have to give - with my family by my side. What else could one possibly wish for? Thank you Karmapa, for always telling me exactly what I need to hear, and for giving me the best birthday I have ever had. Love makes life infinite.
