Karmapa is alive and fiery in his presence. He is like a Great Lion, standing over his pride with affectionate eyes gleaming with compassion.

KIBI - Father Great Lion

He is watching over us all, explaining to us the real truths of this life, and the nature of all things. We received the empowerment of Amitiyus, a gift of long life, but he explained that long life isn’t the goal. A good life, one that could even be short, but full and rich is of much greater benefit. A long life can be a burden if not used to its potential, a long life is simply long and without added benefit - we must focus our minds and hearts on being truly present and committed to living compassionate and meaningful lives. What a powerful statement. What a simple and noble truth. This Great Lion has opened my heart to its fullest. This Great Teacher has shown me the true potential for this life, and how much farther I am capable to go. King Gaesar of Ling was often referred to as Father Great Lion, and being a great inspiration and a most prominent figure of devotion and regality for me, I feel this title is more than fitting for Karmapa as well. He is very much so a great and fiery hearted King of Kings. He leads with pure example, and always reminds us that he too is but a student on this walk of life, just like the rest of us. If that isn’t a perfect example of an honest, genuine and purposeful leader then I don’t know what is.

Our KIBI course has now come to a close, and I am so deeply touched by what I have seen here that I am without words to add here. I feel a few lines from The Werma Lasang Of Gaesar are most fitting instead. My favorite practice, composed by Mipham Rinpoche The Great, a far greater writer than I will do my feelings more justice than I ever could. So I leave you with these last lines, and a wonderfully tender, opened heart. Thank you all so much for everything.

In the clear space of great emptiness, Father Great Lion, On the troops of Warriors, Please take your seat of joy.

You soar on top of the great three worlds, You play joyfully on a small seat of grass.

Don’t be idle, don’t be idle, Warrior of Ling. I put my hope in no other protector but you. Now on this very day, fulfill my aspiration. Ki Ki So So, Lha Gyelo!
