Karmapa has arrived in Dhagpo Möhra, and things are just getting started. This is going to be a wild ride; 6 centers, 3 countries, 1000s of people from all over the world, all gathered together in Europe with Karmapa for the first time in 4 years. I have missed it so much, I live and breathe for this. It is my favorite place to be; in the middle of all the hustle, bustle and energy. Smiling faces everywhere, friends I haven’t seen for years, new families budding all over the place - it seems like everyone now has at least a child or two, even me! 😀 How things have changed in the last few years, but thankfully one thing remains unaltered, unfettered and rooted to my heart. Karmapa!
From his welcome in the center one could see so clearly how majestic and powerful he is, even more so than just a few months ago. I feel that way every time I see him, as if he has aged 100 years in his mind, and yet he remains the most humble, gentle and ageless human being I have ever known. His presence is just so powerful. Carefree and calm. Never rushing, always time for everyone, never saying no, no matter how tired, hungry or worn out he must be. When he took the stage for the first time he stood there for several minutes, hands in the prayer mudra, just looking out at everyone with his big warm smile and gentle gaze. No-one made a sound. He must have made eye contact with all 1600 people individually, seemingly greeting each person and welcoming them like a long lost friend. Only someone like Karmapa can do something like that, completely affect a huge hall full of people, making them all feel as though he is there just for them.
I will try not to wax poetic and let my embellishments get the better of me, as this is the first of many posts I will make during the tour after all. Just know that the air is electric and the joy boundless. I might also be just a bit overly excited too!
