A day of Monlam. Of aspirations and prayers. A day of life and celebration. A day where every grain of rice thrown can be counted as a blessing and an opportunity to be grateful and gracious. It’s too easy to forget how beautiful life is. One can easily get distracted, forgetting the obvious too quickly and watching later as the moment has already passed, whisked by and fading into memory. A day with Karmapa directly in front of us. A day where all our friends are here, side by side. It brings to mind such rarity and preciousness that I must pinch myself to make sure that it is indeed real. A day of life and light, shadow and dark, playing at our very heart strings, gently pulling us back to the present to enjoy it all over again.
