Karmapa told us today that we must always use our words, our time, and our lives to their fullest potential.

Malaysia - The Power Of The Word

We must use these words and these moments; these precious opportunities as a possibility to gain merit for the benefit of all beings.

Why to do anything if not for the sake of others? And in doing so - why to give an empowerment when your audience cannot hear you? So Karmapa came down from his throne and sat down in the crowd so that everyone could hear him clearly. He wore the crown down there there too, on a simple chair, no separation between himself and others. I have never seen anything like it before; well past midnight in the heat and humidity, Karmapa seated wearing the Black Crown in a doorway, just a few inches from everyone, beaming with purpose and intent, intensely teaching as his every word dripped with determination and purpose. I was awestruck and totally blown away. He spoke from the heart. He reminded us that all the success and wealth in the world without compassion and a real desire to help others will fall flat and empty. We must use our words, our time, and our lives as the precious jewels that they are. We must not look outwardly for this power, it comes from our own hearts and our own practice. We must be powerful and wealthy from within.
