I still miss Shamar Rinpoche - every day I think of him and how he profoundly and undeniably changed my life.

Malaysia - The Relics Of Our Teacher

He helped me to create the bridge to this new life I now enjoy, and in doing so saved what was left of me and pushed me to start something with meaning and purpose in an otherwise wasted life of suffering and loss.

He was my teacher. He was my rock. He guided me in all ways I can imagine, and so many that I cannot even begin to comprehend. He was a guiding light when all others have gone out - I’ve said this before, but this feeling has yet to wane, it is as strong as ever. Today, under the guidance of Karmapa himself, his relics were put into his golden stupa here in Kuala Lumpur, and I feel like I am once again saying goodbye. It has now been two years, and my heart continues to be raw and open with his absence. Perhaps this is simply the testament I can make to the gravity of what he brought to my life, and the hugely impactful mark that he has left on my soul - a truth that continues to expound moment after moment, day after day, year after year. For me, it is clear somehow that the relics of my teacher, of our teacher, housed in this small golden box somehow still contain all the power and thundering energy that was Shamarpa. In all his uniqueness there is no mistaking when he is in the room with us still. Thank you Rinpoche, for everything, this may be as close to you as I will get for now, but I will always carry you in my heart.
