Instead, we say, until next time. Au revoir. See you soon.
That last one works for me because I know, in my line of work, I’ll bump into many of you again, somewhere gallivanting around the globe on one Dharmic adventure or another. I look forward to it. Hugs aplenty will surely follow, and I know we’ll laugh as though no time has passed at all.
For those I won’t see again, fear not. You’ve left an impression I will never forget. Your country, full of warmth and bustling energy, vibrant food, and rich culture. Your love of tea is something I hold especially dear, as I share the same passion. I was never hungry with you, never thirsty, never wanting for anything. You kept us all wonderfully fed—a simple expression of your love. Just as family does.
My grandmother used to ask if I was hungry. I’d say no, and she would reply, “I’ll make you something to eat.” Then she'd smile and add, “You look thin.”
I am content. In the truest sense of the word, you have all made me feel so happy, so completely at home. The finest gift a road-weary traveler like myself could ever receive.
Thank you.
See you soon.
See you again.
See you somewhere.
