Today was one of those days, where I witnessed a connection right in front of my eyes that knocked me out.
Where I could feel my own eyes begin to water, for the beautiful image before me was so touching. Today Lama Ole met with Lama Taivansaikhan, one of the highest lamas in Russia, a man whose father held the Karma Kagyu Lineage teachings all the way back from Karma Pakshi. This incredible lineage holding was then passed down to him, so this is a Mongolian monk who has more devotion and ties to our ancient history than anyone thought possible. We were all invited to his monastery here in Ulan Battar, Garma Garjid Ürjin Perenlailin khiid, and upon meeting there was such a connection between him and Ole. Deep reverence and respect between these two men. The bowed to each other, clasped hands, this moment lasting only seconds but it seemed to carry on for infinity. When they both came up, they slowly opened their eyes and looked at each other deeply, both men were visibly shaken and could only muster the words “Thank you”. This is a very humble man, he was so peaceful and beaming. He invited Ole into his small yurt inside the monastery where they continued to chat like old dear friends, and by the time we had to leave they were walking together and holding hands. Who could have ever know that the history of our family was to be so closely rooted with his, our Dharma world begins to grow ever smaller and smaller. I count this as a huge blessing for our Dharma Family United. If we are to thrive the more we can all be connected the better. In a world as crazy and dark as this one can sometimes be, we all need those who will walk the path with us, holding our hands as brothers. If we are to be taking in new friends I would put this man high on the list.
