Dupseng Rinpoche is simply incredible.

NALA - This Is Only The Beginning

Having known him for the last 12 years, being in close proximity to his Dharma activities, and witnessing firsthand his ultimate devotion to the Buddha Dharma, I can say without pause he is a true master of Meditation In Action.

Just look at the pure joy in his eyes, the utter depth of his concentration and pause, the way he makes each and every moment count, with motivation and mindfulness. I am astounded. This is what it looks like to live for practice, and to devote one’s life to helping others on the path to liberation. I felt so close to him the moment I met him, KIBI 2013, he took the stage and his radiance exploded over the room like a bomb. It wasn’t his youthful energy, or his great bear laugh, or the way I see the 16th Karmapa’s glimmer in his eyes. His heart was so vast, his joy so massive. People were smiling so hard, myself very much included, I feared my face might literally fall to pieces. Instead, it was my heart, over and over.

The last week Rinpoche has been at the beautiful NALA KKPL center, about an hour's drive from Prague. It has been so incredible for me. For all of us. Empowerments, teachings, birthday parties, and simply hanging out surrounded by friends and love. The glorious Stupa, looking out into the valley below always gives me pause. Gathered in the Gompa, under the warm lights and sweet incense smell, I always feel so deeply at home here. These special moments remind me that Dharma is alive in my heart, not only when I am traveling with Karmapa, or surrounded by activities, but in my own mind, on the cushion and in every moment before or after. I once thought perhaps Prague was but a stepping stone for me, a wonderful pit stop on my journey to endless adventure. The last few years have shown me this is not the case, that this is home, and the people who make it so have brought so much love to my life it’s unimaginable. To my dear friends here, to my NALA family, the path we share together, thank you for walking it with me. I can say without question once more, that Czech is truly becoming one of the great heart centers of Dharma in the West. With teachers like Dupseng Rinpoche fanning the flames, this is only the beginning.
