After weeks of waiting, the entire world can now rejoice that Shamar Rinpoche's Kudung arrived yesterday afternoon in Kathmandu and was escorted from the airport to Shar Minub; making a single stop at Swayambhu to allow the Kudung one last kora. An almost uncountable number of people flooded the street the entire way, praying, crying, rejoicing; for some, their last chance to pay respects and see their teacher as the motorcade passed by.
Finally arriving in Shar Minub in the late evening, the Kudung was escorted up to the gompa for its final resting place before the cremation tomorrow. Without a doubt, this day means so much to the people of Nepal, and to Rinpoche's students and devotees the world over, and for myself, I am touched beyond words. Welcome home Shamar Rinpoche!
