After hearing stories telling of the beauty of the Benalmadena Enlightenment Stupa - an enormous white stupa, jutting out from the lush green mountain side of Spain, like a beautiful pearl, from its perched spot - overlooking the ocean I almost couldn’t believe that such a place could actually exist - it sounded more like a fairy tale than reality. And yet, after spending the afternoon in its presence I can testify that it is even more beautiful and majestic in person than I could have imagined, it is indeed difficult to describe.
As I walk around its base the billowing white clouds in the crystal clear blue sky create incredible contrast - as they effortlessly cross from horizon to horizon. Gazing up at the stupa creates a feeling as though it’s actually moving through the sky, sailing like an enormous glowing white ship, its golden mast cutting through an ocean of vivid, deep blue that seems to never end in all directions.
