Remembering the 16th Karmapa

To the great 16th Karmapa, a man of infinite power and effortless compassion, today is your birthday. My greatest wish was to know your presence in this life.

Remembering the 16th Karmapa

I can however take great solace from your photo. Your gaze penetrates me like nothing else. Like you are in the room next to me, tremendous and regal, outrageous and frightening even. While having never met you I feel like my heart has been longing for you since the day I was born.

From the archives comes my favorite photo of Karmapa, remastered for this occasion. I offer it to you all in remembrance, in celebration, for your altars and shrines, copyright free in as high a quality as I could find. Karmapa Khyenno and Ki Ki So So, Happy Birthday Karmapa!
