Unassuming, quiet and reserved Rinpoche sees all, knows all, not to be underestimated. His heart glows and breathes with Dharma, a teddy bear of massive power. He is unlike any being I know, in his presence I feel like the center of the universe, completely at ease, home in my skin. My work, this life I lead now, I have him to thank. He was the one who gave me a chance to show what I am worth, from the mud he pulled me out, cleaned me up. From darkness he showed me the force, my Yoda, the Compassionate One. From my deepest heart of hearts, I thank him every day.
Showing His gratitude, Karmapa bestowed a private Empowerment of White Tara for Rinpoche. Gathered in the upstairs shrine room, a small handful in attendance as Karmapa donned the black crown. One of the most powerful experiences of my life, being in the room with all that love, gratitude and power, a thunderbolt to my heart. With each passing blessing, each pass of the vase, Rinpoche sat there in his sweet way, on chair he more than deserves for a lifetime of dedication for this lineage.
When the empowerment was over a long line of monks formed, and began a Long Life Offering. A touching procession, offerings of body, speech and mind, Khatas and thanks, deep bows and grace. Rinpoche met each and every one with a smile, accepting their offerings with great humility and joy. He touched each Buddha to his head, each Dharma text to his throat, his eyes twinkling as only his can. Our deepest wish is for his long life, good health and continued activity. He deserves all our love, all our support, all our care. If one ever needs a reminder what true practice looks like, an image of compassion and understanding, look no further than Rinpoche. We all owe him our thanks, and every gratitude we can express.
