In one week I will be in Kathmandu, ready to help in any way I can, hopefully helping to relay information on how to help from the outside world, as well as trying to get some clarity on what is actually happening on the ground, and in the worst areas. Information is still sketchy at best, internet and cell reception are spotty and people are still unaccounted for, many believe that the worst is possibly still to come with another even more powerful quake in the near future.
The time is at hand to do something, and I am personally ready to depart as soon as possible, this feeling of helplessness we are all sharing is powerful and daunting and I urge us all to watch our minds in the midst of all the craziness.
In my own small way I wish to do what I can - so I am offering all donations that come to my site to be directly given to those in need in Nepal, hand delivered by myself when I arrive in less than a week. I am in contact with several world aid organizations (usaid.org) as well as with the Orphanage of Chogyal Rinpoche (SOH) and Bodhisattvas In Action in Swayambhu and these people know exactly where the money will be needed most, and to be used immediately without passing through government or big organizations. Every little bit helps, no donation is too small, and they are in desperate need of anything that is being offered.

Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje's healthcare project has also released a link to donate and to provide services on the ground in Kathmandu, this is a fully vetted and trustworthy organization of course, and one can trust them to get the donations where they are needed.

Please be wary of seeing donations to untrusted sources as we are hearing already that scams and false organizations are being formed to steal donations, an unthinkable act it's true, but please be wary of how you send your donations. Paypal.com a trusted US company that has a direct donation setup on their site and this is another well trusted way to send help.

In the midst of everything we can try and find hope - many lives have been lost - families destroyed, however we have been very lucky in some regards as so many of our dharma family has survived, and we have been told that the damage expected for a quake of this magnitude, well it could have been much, much worse. Let us not lose hope, let us not lose track of what we have and what holds us together. Let us send our prayers, wishes and our hearts to those in Nepal.
